To assemble collet to nut, stand collet on end, on any firm surface, nose up. Place nut over collet (1). Push down on nut with palm of hand (2). The collet nose will collapse slightly allowing it to enter the nut.

To remove collet from nut, hold the nut firmly in one hand, and grasp the collet with the other (3). Apply a bending pressure (4) until nut separates from collet. On smaller size collets (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2) where the collet nose projects beyond the nut, nuts may be removed by setting collet/nut assembly nose down on a firm surface and pressing down on nut until collet disengages.
